Come One, Come All!

To the mighty realm of the Shire of Drygestan!  The time has come to test your skill at arms and to revel away the summer nights.  Fun, Games, Tourneys, and Celebrations await you at Keepers of Dry Stone.  Come and vie to be our chosen Primer Keepers of Combat, Archery, Arts, and History!

This July, join us for relaxing camaraderie, friendly competition, and unmatched hospitality as we host the tournament to decide the next Captain of the Stag's Blood.  Then, for the bold warriors of the land, we have the honor of hosting the tournament for the next Warlord of the Outlands!

Our ranges will be opened to test your skill with bow, axe, spear, and dagger.  If lazy summer days be what you seek, there will be plenty of that as well.  A wonderful time is assured at this fine event.  We hope to see you there!

Fire Restrictions: As of right now, there are no fire restrictions at this event. If there is an existing firepit at your camp-site you may have an open fire. All camp-sites may use a propane fire pit with an on/off switch, whether or not there is an existing firepit. However, all camps with open fires MUST have a fire extinguisher and a shovel present before a fire is made. Fire safety will be enforced at this event. Please do not leave a fire unattended. We’ll be checking for both attendance and fire extinguishers, so please be prepared.

Pets allowed on leashes only.  No Large Animals Please.

Parking: There will be two areas in which there will be parking. Neither one of these is a parking lot, and both are along existing roads. The site is NOT friendly for RV parking. There simply isn’t much in the way of space to park an RV at this site. You are welcome to drive your car along the existing roads in the camping area to unload, but we would really appreciate it if you would then park in your vehicle in the designated parking areas.

Trash: You will need to pack your own trash away from the event. This is a great site, and we really want to keep it nice. Please leave it cleaner than you found it!

Camping: There are a ton of really great camping spots at this site. There are a few areas, however, that have been reserved for certain groups (Royal, al-Barran, Fontaine, etc). Please check with the map at gate for camping areas.

There is no water on site.  Please be prepared with plenty of water.

The site is 30 minutes away from Las Vegas, NM.  Las Vegas has many outlets for supplies and food as well as emergency services.  No RV space available.

For current information and a schedule of the event, check this page.

Rough schedule for the event:

Site will open Thursday evening for those who wish to come a little early. We'll be there. There will not be any organized archery on Friday but I believe the range will be open at the discretion of the Archery Marshal.

Friday night there will be an open bardic, all are welcome to attend.

Immediately before the Bardic there will be a BATTERING RAM drink contest.  Mix up a tasty cocktail and toast the Shire.  Find Battering Ram Contest Rules here.

Saturday morning there will be the Captain of the Stag's Blood Tournament, followed by a fencing competition (the nature of which is dependent on the number of fencers at the event that wish to compete. In the late afternoon or early evening there will be the Outlands Warlord Tournament. The exact timing of these events will be dependent on the will of the Crown of the Outlands.

There will be an archery competition Saturday, some time between the two tournaments. Again, the exact timing of this competition will be somewhat dependent on the timing of Their Majesties Court.

Saturday evening there will be drumming and dancing at the Hafla.

Sunday morning there will be a third Heavy Weapons tournament, the Defender of Drystone.

The site will close at 3:00 Sunday.

From North or South: Take your best route to Exit 343 just south of Las Vegas proper on Interstate 25. From the exit, head east and turn right onto Frontage Rd 2137.  Follow Frontage Rd 2137 for about a mile and turn right onto NM 283.  Follow Nm 283 for 13.8 miles until the black top ends.  When you get to the gravel road, take a slight right onto Forest Rd 18 and head up the switch back.  In 2 miles, you will cross the National Forest boundary.  The site is just past the boundary on the right.
